PTTEP First in Myanmar’s Oil & Gas Industry to Achieve ISO 22301 Certification for Business Continuity Management

30 October 2018, Yangon, Myanmar – PTTEP Myanmar Asset, an operator in Myanmar and a subsidiary company of Thai-based PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), is the first in its Oil and Gas industry to receive International Standards Organization (ISO) 22301 certification for Business Continuity Management in Myanmar.
The ISO 22301: Business Continuity Management is an important milestone for PTTEP and will assure shareholders, stakeholders and the public of PTTEP’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) system capabilities across the company. The BCM system focuses on preventing and recovering from disruptions to the company’s critical processes, which are identified via a thorough business impact analysis and subsequent risk assessment.
At the certification ceremony on 25 September 2018, Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager of PTTEP Myanmar Asset remarked: “The ISO certification provides additional assurance to our staff and customers that we are focused on continuous improvement. With the achievement of ISO 22301, our company’s comprehensive crisis management system and business continuity have been internationally recognized. We are proud to receive this certificate that complements the quality and excellent standards PTTEP seeks to achieve.”
Zawtika Operation, PTTEP’s largest overseas offshore operations, is the first operating asset to be ISO 22301 certified in Myanmar. To achieve the certification, PTTEP has undergone a rigorous and comprehensive company-wide audit which was conducted by a recognized certification agency. The 15-month process included a Context Analysis, Business Impact & Risk Assessment, Business Continuity Plan as well as Audit & Review.
ISO is the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards. Implementing Business Continuity Process under ISO 22301 is a key strategic decision for PTTEP which addresses the requirements of its clients, people and shareholders. This accreditation is the third ISO 22301 certification within PTTEP. Two earlier certifications were obtained in Thailand for support function group; Petroleum Support Base in 2015 and Office and Facility Management in 2016. Zawtika Operation is the 1st Operating Asset to be granted among PTTEP and in Myanmar.
