PTTEP Myanmar Asset accomplishes ISO 14001:2015 certification for Environmental Management System
13 Dec 2018
ISO 14001:2015 specifies the requirements and framework of an EMS that helps organizations systematically measure and improve their environmental performance. With such a system in place, PTTEP is able to enhance the control of and reduce emissions and waste, ensure safe handling of hazardous materials, and improve conservation of natural resources.
To achieve ISO 14001:2015 certification, PTTEP had to pass an 18-month preparation process on the effectiveness, sustainability and adequacy of its EMS together with achieving certified audit by AJA Registrars, an external and independent organization. The audit ensured that PTTEP meets a series of stringent requirements, including putting in place an environmental policy, monitoring and measurement process, as well as emergency preparedness and response protocols.
“Receiving the ISO 14001:2015 certification demonstrates our dedication to improving our operational efficiency and performance. It also reflects PTTEP’s commitment to valuing and treasuring the environment within our operations while producing gas to meet Myanmar’s growing energy demands,” Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet, General Manager of PTTEP Myanmar Asset, remarked. “It is part of our core corporate values, and we will continue to seek improvements and minimize environmental impact as we grow our business here.”
ISO 14001:2015 is the second ISO accreditation for Zawtika operation – PTTEP’s largest overseas offshore operations project. The asset recently achieved ISO 22301, which is a certification for Business Continuity Process, a system of crisis prevention and recovery minimalizing potential harm for clients, employees and shareholders during various adverse scenarios.
ISO is the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards and implementing an EMS under the ISO 14001:2015 is a key strategic decision taken by PTTEP Myanmar Asset. This accreditation is the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO 14001:2015 received within PTTEP’s group globally.
