PTTEP Myanmar Asset contributes 30,000 USD to support Myanmar government’s efforts in combatting COVID-19
Myanmar, April 24, 2020- Since 2008, PTTEP Myanmar Asset has been actively driving CSR initiatives in 4 key areas focusing on Basic Needs, Education, Environment and Culture. PTTEP Myanmar Asset is committed to working closely with local communities to improve the quality of life and empower opportunities in Myanmar.
Under Basic Needs, providing Health Care is an area where PTTEP Myanmar Asset is proud to support. PTTEP has been working together with the local health department to organize “Mobile Health Check” project, aimed at providing primary medical services free of charge to people living in rural areas with a lack of access to public healthcare in Myanmar.
Recently, the world has been hit hard by Covid-19 outbreaks and in order to support the communities, PTTEP Myanmar Asset has announced it will contribute 30,000 USD at this time, for front-line caregivers in Myanmar. The fund is aimed at providing medical supplies to hospitals that are working relentlessly to contain and fight against the spread of COVID-19.
To ensure safety of the front-line health workers who are risking their lives while caring for the patients, PTTEP Myanmar Asset has donated 20,000 USD (28,000,000 MMK) amount to Waibargi North Okkalapa Hospital (Government Infectious Diseases Hospital, Central Disease Control Center for COVID-19), Yangon. Moreover, the company is supporting communities around their operation sites in Tanintharyi Region aimed to provide the required medical kits by contributing 700 USD (980,000 MMK). This was made to the Navy Military Hospital, Yephyu Township along with the financial contribution of 2,400 USD (3,360,000 MMK) to Covid-19 Facility Quarantine Centres in Kanbauk and Dawei Township. Additionally, PTTEP Myanmar Asset plans to contribute additional 2,000 USD (2,800,000 MMK) for emergency relief rice sacks in case of lockdown in Kanbauk area.
This support to prevent the shortage of medical supplies was extended to Pyapone hospital in Ayeyarwaddy Region where financial contributions of 2,250 USD (3,005,000 MMK) was handed-over to provide mandatory preventive materials such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Forehead Thermometer, Surgical Masks, Silicon Gloves and Hand Sanitizer for the local community. Furthermore, the additional contribution of 1,250 USD (1,750,000 MMK) for surgical face masks and gloves will be supported to local hospitals in Daw Nyein, Ka Mhar, Kyon Ka Doon and Ka Ni villages, Pyapone Township within the next few days.
In addition to the above, a financial contribution of 1,200 USD (1,600,000 MMK) was made to Thayet Hospital in Magway Region, while 1,800 USD (2,500,000 MMK) was donated for COVID-19 preventive medical kits to Thayet District Administration Department, Thayet Township.
PTTEP Myanmar Asset’s General Manager, Mr. Piya Sukhumpanumet said “The donation is intended to provide medical supplies for public hospitals to prevent, control and provide treatment of COVID-19. It is also meant for quarantine centers which are close to our operation sites. We can see the efforts being put in by government departments and civil society groups and we are proud to be part of the fight against the common enemy Covid-19. What I can assure you is that PTTEP Myanmar Asset will continue to cooperate with government in combatting COVID-19.”
